Any human activity, from immemorial time, has been marked by the time. The necessity, sometimes obsession, of being conscious of the shadow of time is present from the very beginnings of History.

The bells are present like heralds of that flow of time for more than 2000 years. In the West, even the smallest village offers in its skyline the sonorous panorama of this kind of spokesmen, as humble as magnificent, that they are marking the time day to day, that communicates joys, pains, festivals or alarms, that have been, in summary, the mass media of the humanity during last millenium.

Now, in these modern times that as much have done for us, the sound of the bell suffocates in noise that  floods us, that surrounds us. This modern, noisy and proud society floods the skies with light, the air with cacophony, noise. We cannot see stars in our cities as we cannot either hear the bells. Their messages, now less and less necessary, are lost little by little, exceeded by the social, technological and cultural changes.

And in the same way that the function of the bells languishes, therefore also makes the men who in ither times gave life to them. The bell ringer office disappeared of the lists of the city councils more than 50 years ago, and the decay also led to the abandonment of the bells and the bell towers.

Although timid, scarce and still incipient, it begins to resurge in all Europe voluntary bell ringers, fans and romantic, who fight to give back to the bells the splendor which formerly they showed in ancient ages; that try to recover and to safeguard traditions and ringings, some of them already lost forever.

Still they are beautiful sensations in the world, many of them  nearly forgotten. Tolled of a bell breaking silence is one of them.
